Terms & Conditions

Last updated: March 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the UniFuel platform, website, or any related services (collectively, the “Service”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the Service. Your continued use of the Service following any changes to these terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.

2. Service Description

UniFuel is a digital fuel voucher platform that enables users to purchase prepaid fuel vouchers redeemable at participating fuel stations across South Africa. The Service facilitates:

  • The purchase of digital fuel vouchers in South African Rand (ZAR).
  • Voucher delivery via WhatsApp message, with email as a fallback channel.
  • Redemption at participating Shell, TotalEnergies, and Engen fuel stations using wiCode technology.

UniFuel does not sell fuel directly. We act as an intermediary facilitating the purchase and issuance of digital vouchers through our technology partners.

3. Account Registration & Verification

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to register for an account and use the Service.
  • You are required to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration, including a valid South African mobile number and email address.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
  • UniFuel reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false or misleading information.

4. Voucher Purchase & Payment

  • All payments are processed in South African Rand (ZAR) through our payment provider, Payfast.
  • Accepted payment methods include credit cards, debit cards, instant EFT, and other methods supported by Payfast.
  • Voucher prices are displayed inclusive of all applicable fees. UniFuel may charge a service fee which will be clearly disclosed before payment confirmation.
  • Payment is required in full before a voucher is issued. No credit or deferred payment arrangements are available.
  • By completing a purchase, you authorise UniFuel and Payfast to process the transaction on your behalf.

5. Voucher Issuance & Delivery

  • Upon successful payment, a digital voucher is issued as a wiCode through our technology partner, WiGroup/Yoyo.
  • The wiCode is delivered primarily via WhatsApp to the mobile number linked to your account. If WhatsApp delivery fails, the wiCode will be sent to your registered email address as a fallback.
  • Vouchers are typically issued within minutes of successful payment. Delays may occur due to network conditions or third-party service availability.
  • UniFuel is not responsible for delivery failures caused by incorrect contact details provided by the user.

6. Participating Locations

UniFuel vouchers are redeemable at participating fuel stations across South Africa. Please note the following:

  • Shell: Partial coverage — not all Shell stations participate. Check the station finder on our platform before purchase.
  • TotalEnergies: Forecourt (fuel pump) transactions only. In-store convenience purchases are not supported.
  • Engen: Forecourt (fuel pump) transactions only. In-store convenience purchases are not supported.
  • Participating station coverage may change without prior notice as it is subject to agreements between UniFuel, WiGroup/Yoyo, and the respective fuel brands.
  • UniFuel does not guarantee that a specific station will accept your voucher. We recommend confirming acceptance before fuelling.

7. Redemption Terms

  • Vouchers are redeemed by presenting the wiCode at the point-of-sale (POS) terminal at a participating fuel station.
  • Vouchers have no cash equivalent and cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to a bank account, or used for non-fuel purchases unless explicitly stated.
  • Partial redemption is supported for gift card-type vouchers. The remaining balance will be retained on the wiCode for future use.
  • UniFuel is not liable for any loss arising from the unauthorised use of a wiCode.

8. Refund Policy

  • No refunds will be issued once a voucher has been successfully generated and delivered.
  • Refunds will only be considered where a voucher fails to be issued due to a technical error on our side or on the part of our technology partners, and the payment has been debited from your account.
  • Refund requests must be submitted to support@unifuel.co within 7 days of the transaction date, accompanied by proof of payment and the relevant transaction reference.
  • Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.

9. Customer Responsibilities

  • You must ensure that the mobile phone number and email address linked to your account are correct and up to date. UniFuel cannot be held liable for vouchers sent to incorrect contact details.
  • You are solely responsible for safeguarding your wiCode. Treat it as you would cash — anyone in possession of the wiCode may redeem it.
  • Do not share your wiCode publicly or with anyone who is not the intended recipient.
  • Report any suspected unauthorised use of your account or wiCode to support@unifuel.co immediately.

10. Fraud & Misuse

UniFuel maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards fraud and misuse. The following activities are strictly prohibited:

  • Using the Service with stolen or fraudulent payment instruments.
  • Attempting to exploit, reverse-engineer, or manipulate the voucher issuance or redemption process.
  • Reselling vouchers for profit without prior written authorisation from UniFuel.
  • Creating multiple accounts to circumvent purchase limits or promotional restrictions.

UniFuel reserves the right to immediately suspend or permanently terminate any account suspected of fraudulent activity, withhold any pending vouchers, and report such activity to the relevant law enforcement authorities.

11. Limitation of Liability

  • The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. UniFuel makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the availability, reliability, or accuracy of the Service.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, UniFuel, its directors, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
  • UniFuel’s total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific voucher giving rise to the claim.
  • UniFuel is not liable for any loss or damage caused by downtime, service interruptions, or failures of third-party providers including Payfast, WiGroup/Yoyo, or WhatsApp.

12. Changes to Terms

UniFuel reserves the right to modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on our website. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent revisions were made. Your continued use of the Service after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
